"I Need You With Me"
from the CD "M&R Rush"
I Need You With Me is one of those love songs that was written to be played by the wedding band on your wedding night. So, at a wedding on May 14th, 1983, at Bon Vivant Country Club in Bourbonnais Illinois, it was.
The only problem was that the wedding band that played that night didn't know the song. But luckily, as fate would have it, all the boys from M&R Rush were there and although fully liquored up were able to pull it off without a hitch. I mean, let's face it, this wasn't their first rodeo!
Also included in M&R Rush's short set were the songs All I Ever Wanted and Greg Kihn's Jeopardy. What a great party, what a great night!
I Need You With Me is one of the few M&R Rush songs where you get to hear Carl on lead vocals and Marty playing rim shots. Marty adds his signature drum fills to the last chorus of the song. John adds the harmonies to the verses and bridges to this song that Carl wrote.
I Need You With Me is definitely the softer side of M&R Rush, where the piano is the dominant instrument, and the ARP String Ensemble adds layers to the intro and solo sections of the song. Yes, I would say, I Need You With Me is M&R Rush Lite!!
LYRICS
I need someone in my life - someone to share my place
Yes, I need someone in my life to share a smiling face
I can’t go on like this no more living life from door to door
Never knowing where I’m going to be
Chorus
I need you with me
I need you with me
I hope you can see
I need you with me
I need someone in my life who cares as much as me
Yes, I need someone in my life to hold me tenderly
I’ve been down this road before, But this time I know for sure
You’re the future that I long to see
Chorus
Lead
I’ve been down this road before, But this time I know for sure
You’re the future that I long to see
Chorus (Twice)
